Summit Conference

On 25-26 April 2024, the first United Nations (UN) Conference on 'Citizen Stack: Digital Public Infrastructure, Transformative Technology for Citizens' was held at UN headquarters in New York, United States under India's leadership. Conference was organised by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN together with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Assimilating India's first principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' - the world is one family, India Stack shared its DPI journey through the inaugural conference. In just seven years, India’s DPI model has achieved over 80 per cent financial inclusion for its citizens, and now accounts for more than 60 per cent of all digital transactions worldwide. A highlight of the conference was India’s Citizen Stack initiative, inspired by India Stack, showcasing the successful integration of technology into citizen services. This initiative signifies a crucial step toward international cooperation for the development of digital infrastructure worldwide.

Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is set up in India as a Public-Private Policy partnership that has become a benchmark for multiple nations, corporations & start-ups across the world.

Case studies showcased during the conference demonstrated how components of Citizen Stack are aiding countries like Ethiopia and the Philippines in tailoring DPI to their specific needs and achieving digital sovereignty.
