CSIR-IICT (Indian Institute of Chemical Technology) and BHEL corporate R&D have signed a MoU to develop a technology for capturing and converting carbon dioxide (CO2) into Dimethyl Ether (DME) through direct catalytic conversion. This clean fuel can be blended with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The MoU between CSIR-IICT and BHEL was signed in Hyderabad. This initiative by the Ministry of science and technology is for the country’s net-zero emissions goals in partnership with industry for deploying carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) technologies in sectors such as coal gasification.

IICT is an institution under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).
