Obituary

Bernd Holzenbein, a FIFA World Cup winner with West Germany in 1974, has passed away aged 78. 'Holz', as he was affectionately known, spent the majority of his career with Eintracht Frankfurt, winning a hat-trick of DFB-Pokal trophies between 1974 and 1981, as well as the UEFA Cup in 1980. He played 532 times in total for the Eagles, netting a club record 160 Bundesliga goals in the process. As a player he won four trophies with Eintracht and his club record of 160 Bundesliga goals will probably never be surpassed.
