India’s economy is projected to grow by 6.5% in 2024, according to a report by the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). India grew by 6.7% in 2023 and is expected to expand by 6.5% in 2024, continuing to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world. Global growth is projected to be 2.6% in 2024, slightly slower than the 2.7% in 2023. This makes 2024 the third consecutive year in which the global economy will grow slower than before the pandemic when the average rate for 2015–2019 was 3.2%. China’s economy, projected to grow 4.9 percent in 2024. Growth in India is projected to remain strong at 6.8% in 2024 and 6.5% in 2025, with the robustness reflecting continuing strength in domestic demand and a rising working-age population.
