The United Nations (UN)'s first International Day of Caring and Advocacy was observed across the world on 29 October 2023 to recognize the contribution of caregivers and advocate for policies and initiatives.

For care and domestic work and support, the General Assembly decided to proclaim 29 October as the International Day of Care and Support. It focused on the need to recognize and value paid care work and care workers as essential workers. Also highlighted and stressed the need to adopt measures that address gender stereotypes related to care and support, as well as those related to race, ethnicity, age and others, inter alia. To reduce occupational segregation for migrant status, care work, to facilitate the transition from informal to formal work and decent work, including paid care and domestic work, and to create quality jobs in the care economy and The aim is to increase the rewards and representation of the paid domestic.
