Arunachal CM Pema Khandu, US Ambassador inaugurate ‘The Hump WWII Museum'.

A museum dedicated to the martyred airmen who flew for the Allied forces during World War II was inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh's Pema Khandu. The Hump WWII Museum at Pasighat, headquarters of East Siang district, is named after North-Eastern Assam and Yunnan, China. About 650 aircraft crashed on this route from 1942–45. “We are here today not just to mark history but to make history. "Look at the ways each of us can not only look at the past but do something to change the future," US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said after inaugurating the museum with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. " Mr Khandu said The Hump is a tribute to the martyred heroes of World War II by the people of his state. He also lauded the efforts of Museum Director Oken Tayeng and his team in making The Hump a reality. Allied Army pilots flying from airfields in Assam to airfields in Yunnan This route was called 'The Hump' because their planes had to pass through deep valleys and mountains over 10,000 feet high.
