Shiny Wilson, a name synonymous with Indian athletics, has been nominated as a member of the Asian Athletic Commission. She emerged as the national champion in the 800 meters in 1981, marking the beginning of a career. Shiny Wilson represented India in more than 75 instances in international competitions. In the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, Shiny secured a silver medal in women’s 400m, finishing behind PT Usha. The duo, along with MD Valsamma and Vandana Rao, clinched the gold medal in the women’s 4x400m relay. In the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, Shiny clinched a bronze medal in the women’s 800m event. Furthermore, Usha, Shiny, G. V. Dhanalakshmi, and Kutty Saramma bagged the silver medal in the women’s 4x400m relay.
