Important Days

Earth Hour, a world initiative, is observed annually on the last Saturday of March to raise awareness about climate change and promote energy conservation. Earth Hour 2024 was observed on 23rd March. To observe the day, people around the world switch off their lights for an hour as a symbol of committing to the planet Earth. This year, on Earth Hour, people will be shutting down their lights for an hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm their local time. The day was initiated and organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which aimed to encourage individuals worldwide to come forward to preserve energy. For its 18th edition this year, people from 190 countries and territories are expected to participate by switching off non-essential lights on March 23. It was first observed on March 31, 2007, at 7:30 pm as per the local time in Sydney, urging residents to turn off their lights.
