Researchers have named a new species of deep-sea isopod called 'Brucethoa isro' discovered off the Kollam coast after the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). A recent discovery has uncovered a new species of deep-sea isopod off the Kollam coast in Kerala. This tiny crustacean, which feeds on fish, belongs to the genus Brucethoa and was found at the base of the Spinyjaw greeneye's gill cavity. Interestingly, this is the second documented species within the genus to be found in India, and it has been given the name Brucethoa isro in recognition of the Indian space agency's impressive space missions. Isopods are an incredibly diverse group of crustaceans, with a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
