Amit Shah released the book titled 'Assam's Breathing - Laschat Barfu Kan'!

In his address, Shri Amit Shah highlighted the remarkable story of Lachit Barphukan, who fought against bigotry and power-hungry forces in the Northeast. He likened Lachit Borphukan to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj of Eastern India, emphasizing the significance of his role in India’s freedom struggle. Shri Shah underlined the importance of the Battle of Saraighat, stating that if Lachit had not emerged victorious, Assam might have become a part of Bangladesh. He credited Lachit for halting invasions from Khilji to Aurangzeb, safeguarding Assam and contributing to the region’s integration with India.


      This book is published in English by the Government of Assam

      It has also been translated into 24 scheduled Indian languages.

      This book tells about the 17th century Ahom commander Laschat Barfu Kan, who attacked the Mughals in Assam.
