Japan became the fifth country in history to reach the moon when its spacecraft landed on the lunar surface. But an issue with the power supply means that the mission could be in jeopardy. Officials also said they needed more time to analyze whether the spacecraft, which wasn’t carrying astronauts, made a pinpoint landing — one of the priorities of the mission.
SLIM lander aims for small scale and light weight
After landing, SLIM's solar panels failed to generate power and appeared to operate only on batteries, Due to which its operating time limit was limited to a few hours.
Operating on battery Due to non-functional solar panels, SLIM conserves energy by turning off the heater.
