Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Piyush Goyal launched the 'e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi' (Digital Gateway), online digital platform of the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA). The ‘e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi’ initiative will ease the farmers’ warehousing logistics with the help of technology and aid the farmers in receiving fair prices for their produce. The initiative with its simplified digital process can ease the procedure of farmers' storage at any registered WDRA warehouse. In a ceremony held in New Delhi, Goyal articulated his vision for the agriculture sector as the cornerstone for India's journey towards becoming 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. The security deposit charges at WDRA registered warehouses will soon be reduced to encourage more farmers, especially small farmers, to utilise the warehouses and enhance their income. The farmers stocking their produce at these warehouses would need to pay only one percent security deposit instead of the earlier three percent.
