The Indian Coast Guard is jointly conducting 16th edition of the biennial exercise 'Dosti-16' with Sri Lanka and Maldives, from 22-25 February 2024 in the Male, Maldives. During the exercise yesterday at Male, Maldives Defence Minister HE Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon was present. A total of five coast guard ships, Samarth and Abhinav from India, are participating in the exercise while Bangladesh is acting as an observer. The aim of the exercise is to further fortify the friendship, enhance mutual operational capability, and exercise interoperability and to build cooperation between the Coast Guards of India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.


      Exercise Dosti was first conducted in 1991 between the Indian and Maldives Coast Guards.

      Sri Lanka joined the exercise for the first time in 2012.

      The biennial exercise Dosti was last conducted in 2021.
