Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang launched a World Bank-assisted programme Sikkim INSPIRES (Integrated Service Provision and Innovation for Revising Economics), aimed at providing economic growth opportunities for women and youth. The programme focuses on providing better economic opportunities for women and youth through training and employment initiatives. This initiative aims to boost economic inclusion for women and youth in non-farm sectors, backed by a $100 million grant from the World Bank and a significant support from the Indian government. With India funding 90% of the loan, the State government is responsible for just 10% repayment. Over the next five years, Sikkim INSPIRES will operate across nine government departments, fostering economic growth and inclusivity.

It marks the first direct partnership between the State government and the World Bank.

Additionally, the launch event included the announcement of a slogan competition winner and the unveiling of a mobile app focused on mental health awareness.
