Important Days

National Deworming Day (NDD) is annually observed February 10 to make every child in the country worm-free. The initiative aims to deworm all children under the age group of 1 year to 19 years from the prevalence of Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH). The STHs are also known as parasitic intestinal worms in common language. The National Deworming Day, established in February 2015 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, works under the Government of India. According to the National Health Mission’s official website, the day is observed in around 277 districts across 11 states and Union Territories of India.

National Deworming Day is observed to deworm all children (both enrolled and unenrolled) from 1 to 19 years of age.

They can receive treatment for intestinal worms from teachers at all government and government-aided schools and by the Anganwadi workers annually.
