India has nominated the "Maratha Military Landscape" for the UNESCO World Heritage List of 2024-25. A total of 12 components have been included in the nomination. The "Maratha Military Landscapes" depict the vision of a strong military of the Maratha rulers and the exemplary fortification. The Maratha Military Landscapes express the eventful history of the country. The Salher fort, Khanderi fort, and the Panhala fort are some of the twelve forts nominated. It was between the 17th and the 19th centuries when the Maratha Military Landscapes developed. A total of 12 forts belonging to the Maratha empire have been nominated.


      List of 12 Maratha forts that have been nominated by India for the UNESCO World Heritage List 2023- 2024: Salher Fort; Lohgad Fort; Raigad Fort; Pratapgad Fort; Panhala Fort; Sindhudarg Fort; Shivneri Fort; Khanderi Fort; Rajgad Fort; Suvarnadurg Fort; Gingee Fort (Tamil Nadu); Vijaydurg Fort.
