The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) announced an extension to the timeline for the verification of market rumours by listed entities. The new effective date for implementation for the top 100 listed entities has been extended to June 1, 2024, and for the top 250 listed entities, the deadline is now December 1, 2024. The regulation mandates the top 100 listed entities by market capitalisation, and subsequently, the top 250 listed entities, to verify and confirm, deny, or clarify market rumours.


      According to the paper, the top 100 listed companies would have to verify market rumours from February 1, 2024, while the top 250 firms will have to carry out the exercise from August 1, 2024.
