Droupadi Murmu become the 15th President of India. She will be the first tribal woman president of India, succeeding incumbent President Ram Nath Kovind. She was declared as the next President-elect after she won 50 percent of the total value of valid votes at the end of third round of counting. Droupadi Murmu got 2161 votes whose electoral value is 5,77,777, while the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha got 1058 votes of electoral value of 2,61,062. Droupadi Murmu served as the 9th Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021. She became India’s first woman tribal governor and the first female tribal leader from Odisha to be appointed as a governor of an Indian state. She was born on June 20, 1958 in a Santhali tribal family in Uparbeda village, Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. Ms Murmu will now replace President Ram Nath Kovind, whose term ends on 24 July, 2022. She will be sworn in on July 25, 2022.
