Senior Indian diplomat Surendra Adhana has been re-elected to serve on the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ) in the Permanent Mission to the United Nations for the period 2024-26. He was elected on behalf of the United Nations General Assembly There is an expert committee of 21 members. Its members act in their individual capacity and not as representatives of the member states. Its main functions are to examine and report on the budget submitted to the General Assembly on behalf of the United Nations Secretary-General, to advise on any administrative and budgetary matters referred to the General Assembly, to examine proposals for the financial arrangements of United Nations agencies, and to review the functioning of the United Nations and its agencies. To consider the auditors' report on the accounts and report to the General Assembly.
