India celebrates Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas on 26 November. This year marks the 132nd birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly and played an important role in drafting the Constitution. Earlier this day was celebrated as Law Day but in 2015, the Government of India modified Law Day as Constitution Day. 26 November is the day when India adopted its Constitution in the year 1949. The Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950. BR Ambedkar, known for advocating the interests of Dalits, was the head of the committee that finalized the draft of the Indian Constitution. The draft took 2 years, 11 months and 17 days to complete. Meanwhile, the statue of BR Ambedkar will be installed in the Supreme Court premises, in most of the places across the country, in small and big cities, towns and villages, statues of BR Ambedkar with raised hands are seen inspiring people to move forward. The statue of BR Ambedkar in lawyer's attire stands 7 feet tall on a 3 feet base stand.
