MOUs and Agreement
The World Bank and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) detailing how the two organizations will work together to strengthen health systems in countries in the global south. The goal is to support more efficient, effective and sustainable financing to improve health outcomes in the face of climate change. The World Bank estimates that climate change could push 132 million people into extreme poverty by 2030; One-third result from climate-related health risks that are disproportionately affecting the poorest and most vulnerable people. The Global Fund is a worldwide partnership to defeat HIV, TB and malaria and ensure a healthier, safer, more equitable future for all. We raise and invest more than US$5 billion per year to fight the deadliest infectious diseases, challenge the injustices that fuel them, and strengthen health systems and pandemic preparedness in more than 100 countries most affected.
