The Doppler weather radar network will cover in India by 2025 for more accurate forecasts related to extreme weather events.

On the occassion of 148th foundation day of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Union minister Jitendra Singh stated that, Doppler weather radar network will covered in India by 2025 for more accurate forecasts related to extreme weather events. He inaugurated four Doppler weather radar systems in Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh as well as 200 agro-automated weather stations. The government plans to establish 660 district agro-meteorological units by 2025. The IMD has taken proactive steps to increase the number of radars from 15 in 2013 to 37 in 2023 and will add 25 more in next 2-3 years.
