Renowned art historian and writer Brijendra Nath Goswami passed away at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He was 90 years old.

Noted art historian and critic Brijinder Nath Goswami passed away in Chandigarh. 90-year-old Goswami, a Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardee, was suffering from lung infection for a long time and breathed his last at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He is survived by his daughter Malavika Goswami. His wife, Karuna Goswami, who was his student and followed the same discipline, died in October 2020 at the age of 80 during the COVID-19 pandemic. His son, Dr. Apoorva Goswami, died of the disease this April at the age of 58. Born on August 15, 1933, in Sargodha in undivided Punjab, Goswami completed most of his education in Hoshiarpur, where his father worked as a judge. After coming to Punjab University, he went to Chandigarh as a professor of history. Emeritus Professor of Art History at the University, he had been visiting professor at various universities around the world. He wrote 27 acclaimed books on art, his last book, "The Indian Cat: Stories, Paintings, Poetry, and Proverbs" was released by him just a few days ago on 24 October.
