Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Girish Chandra Murmu has been elected as the Vice-Chairman of the United Nations Auditor Panel for the next year. The panel of external auditors comprises 12 Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) globally. Which includes representatives from Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Philippines, Russia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The independent body conducts financial, performance and compliance audits of United Nations entities. At the meeting, Murmu led the discussion on key financial and management issues affecting UN organizations. In a separate meeting, Murmu met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres along with panel members, exchanging views in the areas of risk management, the challenging financial environment and the imperative of well-structured financing strategies. Panelists expressed concern about digital transformation – emphasizing the important role of the UN system in guiding and managing climate finance issues.
