Popular singer Suresh Wadkar received the Lata Mangeshkar Award given by the state government. The award includes Rs five lakh, an insignia and a certificate of honour.

This year Suresh Wadkar has been honored with the Lata Mangeshkar Award given by the state government for his achievements in the field of music. The nature of this award is Rs. 5 lakh in cash, citation, honor certificate. Suresh Wadkar was born on 7 August 1955 in Kolhapur. He was fond of singing since childhood, he started taking music lessons at the age of ten. He learned music from Pandit Jiyalal Vasant. Singer Suresh Wadkar has sung songs in Marathi, Hindi and many other languages. He has also sung thousands of songs in Konkani and Bhojpuri languages. Omkar has sung many melodious songs like Sadhguru Samarth, Cine Mein Jalan Akhon Mein Tufan Sa Kyu Hain, Surmayi Akhiyon Mein, Ae Zindagi Gale Laga Le, Chappa Chappa Charkha Chale. Before this, Suresh Wadkar has also received the Lata Mangeshkar Award from the Madhya Pradesh Government. In 2007, the Maharashtra Government honored him with the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. Suresh Wadkar has been awarded the Padma Shri in 2020. Apart from this, Suresh Wadkar has also received the 'Swarmangesh Lata Mangeshkar Award' given by All India Marathi Natya Parishad, Navi Mumbai. ​
