National Newborn Week was celebrated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India from 15 to 21 November this year to reinforce the importance of neonatal health as a key priority area and to reiterate its commitment to drive at the highest level goes. The theme of the National Newborn Week is “Safety, Quality and Nutritional Care – The Birth Right of Every Newborn Child”, the event is an opportunity for state and central government officials and partner development representatives working on the child health agenda to renew their commitment. There is a strategic opportunity. Towards ending preventable neonatal deaths in India. Secretary HFW launches National Newborn Week and SAANS campaign IEC posters to disseminate information and generate behavior change and demand on newborn health. In 2014, India became the first country to launch the India Newborn Action Plan (INAP), in line with the global neonatal action plan towards eliminating preventable deaths among newborns and stillbirths. ​
