Justice Prakash Shrivastava, former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, on Wednesday took charge as chairperson of the National Green Tribunal.

Justice Prakash Shrivastava has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Green Tribunal, NGT.Justice Sheo Kumar Singh was appointed as the Acting Chairperson, after the former chairperson Justice A.K Goel retired in the month of July.Justice Srivastav was being enrolled as an Advocate on February 02, 1987. Justice Srivastav practised Tax, Civil and Constitutional sides in the Supreme Court of India at New Delhi. Later, he was being appointed as the judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on 18.01.1888 and became the permanent Judge. Justice Prakash Shrivastava was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta in the year 2021 and he was retired in March of this year.In his address, Justice Shrivastava underlined that the right to a healthy environment has been construed to be a part of the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution.
