The United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency are collaborating on a new collection to honor Marie Skłodowska-Curie
International
The United Nations Postal Administration will issue a set of Marie Skłodowska-Curie stamps and a set from the new IAEA specific cachet. The collection is to honor his birth anniversary and recognize his significant contributions to the nuclear field. His legacy maintains a strong connection with the IAEA through his pioneering successes in radioactive research and the discovery of radium and polonium. Skłodowska-Curie set an unprecedented example for women when she became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first person to claim this prestigious honor twice. She was largely marginalized in the scientific community. It also pays tribute to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Program (MSCFP), which maintains the IAEA's commitment to promoting diversity and empowering women in the nuclear sciences with the goal of increasing the number of women in the field. The program is designed to encourage and support women to engage in nuclear research and technology, providing female students with scholarships for master's programs and the opportunity to undertake IAEA-facilitated internships.
