Industry body Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has appointed Venkat Nageshwar Chalasani, former deputy managing director of State Bank of India, as its new chief executive.

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) announced the appointment of Venkat Nageshwar Chalasani as its new Chief Executive. Chalasani will now replace NS Venkatesh, who served in the post for two consecutive terms of three years each. The newly appointed CE of AMFI has taken over as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) in State Bank of India (SBI), one of India's leading banks. He has also served in various capacities as a member of committees constituted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Ministry of Finance. Chalasani has also been the President of the Fixed Income Money Market and Derivatives Association of India (FIMMDA) and the Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India (FEDAI). Speaking on his appointment, Venkat Chalasani said, “I am really excited to join AMFI at this time. I look forward to working with the industry and the regulator to further strengthen Indian mutual funds. AMFI is the association of SEBI-registered mutual funds in India. was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1995.
