Important Days
United Nations Day is celebrated every year on 24 October. The United Nations was officially established on October 24, 1945. 2 years later, in 1947, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Charter of the United Nations, which would be "dedicated to making the people of the world aware of the goals and achievements of the United Nations and to securing their support for it." In 1971, the organization Adopted United Nations Resolution 2782 and declared that United Nations Day should be an international celebration. United Nations Day provides an opportunity to raise the common agenda and reaffirm the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter that have guided the country for the past 76 years.
