The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of Rs 14.54 billion (US$175 million) to upgrade roads in Madhya Pradesh.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $175 million loan to improve road connectivity and climate resilience in Madhya Pradesh, India. The project will upgrade approximately 500 km of state highways and major district roads to standard two-lane facility. ADB will build the capacity of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Limited (MPRDC) on climate change adaptation and mitigation, disaster resilience, and road safety in road network planning and management. The project will also support the use of green technology in road construction and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. This framework will help develop strategies and plans to position ADB's work toward a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future while continuing efforts to eradicate extreme poverty. Asia and the Pacific are committed to achieving this. Established in 1966, it is owned by 68 members – 49 of whom are from the region.
