With no fresh tax burden, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presented the Rs1,21,501 crore budget for the financial year 2023-24. The CM's briefcase in which contained the Budget papers, bore the graffiti of Chhattisgarh Mahatari and Kamdhenu in Chhattisgarhi art made from 'gobar' (cow dung) paint produced in urban Gauthan. An image of Ma Kamdhenu was embossed on the briefcase's other side. The gross state domestic product (GSDP) is projected at 8%. Provisioning of Rs6,800 crore for the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to make Chhattisgarh, which is famously known as “Dhaan Ka Katora” (bowl of grains), as the “Dhan Ka Katora” (bowl of money). An unemployment allowance of Rs2,500 per month for the educated unemployed for two years for youths aged between 18 and 35, whose family income is upto Rs2.5 lakh per annum. Chhattisgarh has become the first state to give out unemployment allowance despite having the least unemployment rate of (0.1%) in the country. The honorarium for anganwadi workers has been increased from Rs6,500 to Rs10,000 per month. The Mukhymantri Kanya Vivah allowance has been increased from Rs25,000 to Rs50,000. A total budget of Rs38 crore has been allocated for the scheme. After the immense success of the Atmananda model schools, a provision of Rs870 crore has been made for opening 101 more such schools. A corpus of Rs12 crore has been allocated for organizing International Ramayana festival and Rs2 crore has been allocated for Ram Van Gaman Path Paripath. The scholarship amount given to SC, ST and OBC students studying in hostels, ashrams and Prayas schools, has been increased from Rs1,000 per month to Rs1,500 per month.
