Important Days

World Kindness Day, observed on 13 November, is a celebration of acts of kindness and their powerful impact on individuals, communities and the world. Kindness is fundamental to humanity, bridging racial, religious, political, gender and geographic divisions. The day is an encouragement for people to intentionally perform acts of kindness and promote a culture of empathy and generosity. The history of World Kindness Day begins in 1997 when the World Kindness Movement held its first conference in Tokyo, Japan to bring together like-minded organizations from around the world. It is a day of celebration in many countries, for example Canada, Australia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. The day was not established as an annual event until 1998. Year after year, the kindness movement is gaining momentum around the world. Ultimately, after a decades-long struggle the World Kindness Movement received official NGO recognition in Switzerland.
