Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet approves creation of Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) for three tiger reserves

Itanagar, Oct 18 The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the formation of Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) with creation of 336 regular posts as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines for the three tiger reserves in the state - Namdapha, The creation of STPF will help in protection of tigers and their habitats, protection of wildlife habitats, prevention of trafficking of wildlife commodities, protection and security of properties of Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change including tiger sanctuaries and scientific works. The 3 tiger reserves will consist of a company of 112 personnel and each company will be distributed into 3 platoons and 18 sections.
