Padmashree Bangaru Adigalar, founder of Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Siddha Peetham, died of a heart attack on Thursday. He was eighty-two years old. Bangaru Adigalar paved the way for women in this temple by allowing them to enter the sanctum sanctorum and worship. Devotees, leaders and general public gathered in large numbers at his residence in Chengalpattu to pay respect to Bangaru Adigalar. Tamil Nadu CM Stalin and Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan paid tribute in Chengalpattu.
