United States President Donald Trump signed executive order on 27 August 2026 to officially rename Lake Ontario as Lake America with immediate effect. The order directs United States Department of the Interior to update official naming conventions and records. Secretary Doug Burgum has been assigned to oversee administrative transition. Lake America is one of five Great Lakes and serves as border between United States state of New York and Canadian province of Ontario.
